Research Area
- Michelle Tappert studies the reflectance spectroscopy of minerals, mainly those that are produced by hydrothermal fluids. Her M.Sc. project focused on characterizing the reflectance spectra of siliceous hot springs for the purpose of identifying similar environments on the surface of Mars. For her Ph.D., she is now working on automated drill core logging projects. Her current work is focused on developing new interpretation methods for IOCG deposits.
Research Interests
- Visible, Near-Infrared, Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy
- Processing and Analyzing of HyLogger, HyLogger-2, and HyChips data
- iPhone & iPad Application design
- Software: Matlab, ENVI, The Spectral Geologist (TSG), Omnic/Atlus, Origin
